Problem: I lost my petrol cap. Can I still drive?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: Get a new one. Google it, get it sent to your door. You will lose far more in spilt/evaporated petrol than it will cost you to replace it.

Problem: Rear brake light has gone. Is it difficult to replace?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: It shouldn't be too difficult to replace, but different cars use different systems. However, it will be far cheaper to do it yourself than to get someone else to do it.

Problem: Car won't start.

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: The problem is likely to be the starter, the alternator, or most likely, the battery. Replacing a battery is not too hard generally, but remember that the negative connector is the one that needs to be off for the longest when you connect and disconnect. So, negative off first when disconnecting, negative on last when reconnecting. If you attach jump leads, the same rules apply.

Problem: It's starting very roughly. When the car is idling, it doesn't sound constant.

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: You might need new spark plugs. They can be tricky to replace depending on whether anything is covering them, so look up how to it before you start. They are cheap to replace yourself but expensive at a garage as you'll be paying for labour.

Problem: My wing mirror was damaged. How do I replace it?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: I recommend getting a service manual for this (check Amazon) as it'll give you the diagrams you need to follow to replace it. You might want a garage to do it for you if it looks particularly tricky. If you want to do it yourself, it shouldn't be too difficult to source a replacement side view mirror, but be a little wary of buying off Ebay or other auction sites.

Problem: I hear a squeak every two seconds or so.

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: It could be a bad belt. Get it checked out - you don't want it to break while you're driving.

Problem: My car is leaking - I think it's the radiator - how can I reseal it?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: You're just delaying the inevitable by resealing it. Are you sure it's the radiator? If so, you would probably want to replace it. But it could be any one of a number of other things. When does it leak? Is it only water? Does it only happen when you use the air conditioning?

Problem: Tyres squeal when braking - can I replace the brakes myself?

There are 0 comments on this problem.

Solution 1: Replacing brake pads or calipers can be done yourself, but it's tricky and time consuming. If you really want to do it yourself, get a service manual and study the diagrams carefully. But I would recommend getting a professional to do it if you're not fully confident yourself.
